Our Doctoral School was founded in 2008 with the collaboration of leading researchers from the Institutes of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biophysics and Cell Biology, Immunology and the Department of Human Genetics of the Medical Faculty at the University of Debrecen. We are committed to training excellent researchers devoted to science in our fields. Mission statements
The main aim of the Molecular Cell- and Immunobiology Doctoral School of University of Debrecen is to provide a world-class level doctoral training and research infrastructure in the field of cell- and immune biology, by the coordination of the Medical Doctoral Council and well as by the help of the Faculty of Medicine. Our aim is to teach and interpret the newest scientific findings in the PhD training and to develop the student’s capability to utilize and further develop these findings. The teachers of the doctoral school are determined to contribute to the advances of Hungarian and international sciences as well as to help the development of the R&D capabilities of our industrial partners.
Visions
The number of students at the English Program of the Doctoral School is expected to increase dynamically, therefore we plan to work toward further internationalization. In a long term the language of the whole program is expected to be predominantly English, therefore we are continuously planning to increase the number of courses provided in English, and to encourage the Hungarian students to do their yearly reports and lectures this way too. Due to the very high cost of the education and research in our scientific field we are planning to involve our industrial partners into the training as well as into financing. Our vision is to create a doctoral program that is competitive with any Hungarian or foreign doctoral programs offered in our scientific field.
Quality assurance objectives
The Doctoral School continuously fulfills the quality assurance objectives set by the Doctoral and Habilitation Council of the University of Debrecen. The training of the quality evaluation system ensures the excellent quality of the PhD and scientific work. The aim of the doctoral training is that the doctoral students need to carry out high-level scientific work in order to acquire the primary and secondary planning and implementation of the research, and also the analytical processing of the literature. Another requirement is the acquisition and use of scientific methodological applications in research work. The doctoral students must demonstrate these skills and abilities by preparing and defending a dissertation.
